Exercise A: Personal questions (Use a puppet to ask)
“What’s your name?” / “How old are you?”
“Do you like pizza?” (Expect: “Yes” or “No” – maybe “Yes, I do.”)
“What color is your hair?”
“Where is your shoe?” (They might just point, but you’ll hear: “There!” or “Under table.”)
Exercise B: Finish my sentence (You start, they finish)
“I like to eat…” (Child: “Ice cream.”)
“My cat is…” (“Small/black/funny.”)
“Yesterday I went to…” (“School/park.”)
Exercise C: Check numbers
Exercise D: “Do as I say” (TPR - Total Physical Response)
Say an instruction and see if they act it out without you demonstrating.
“Stand up.”
“Touch your nose.”
“Put the red crayon on the book.”
“Jump three times.”
“Take the ball and give it to me.”
Exercise E: Rapid naming game (Point to a category)
“Tell me all the animals you know.”
“Name 3 things that are yellow.”
“What do we wear on our feet?” (Socks, shoes)
Exercise F: Opposites (Say a word, they say the opposite – use a ball toss)
Hot → Cold
Big → Small
Happy → Sad
Up → Down
Fast → Slow
