English in my heart

My favourite subject at school is English. I have been studying English for 6 years. Today English has a special place in my heart. Learning English means getting extensive knowledge about the whole culture. We do not just learn how to write, read and speak but also learn about traditions of the British, discover different countries, cities and other things.

I read a lot. Reading books in English helps to enlarge my vocabulary and enrich knowledge. I hope that one day I will be able to read my favourite books about Harry Potter in English.

I like watching films in English as well. Spoken language and written language are two completely different topics. Every person has their own manner of speaking. Sometimes we can hear dialects which are not easy to understand.

At home I have a small collection of films in English. I have watched them several times already. Every time I watch a movie I understand more and more. I believe that watching films in English is a perfect exercise for listening comprehension.

In addition I love listening to music. I am so glad that now I can enjoy my favourite music and try to understand what the songs are about.

I am very happy that English has made my life so interesting!

English in my heart

There is a good quotation “how many languages you know so many times you are a man”. I think it is really so. I also think that people should learn as much foreign languages as possible as it makes the outlook wider. Moreover knowing several foreign languages brings many opportunities to life. I know the Belarusian language as it is my mother tongue, Russian and English.

I would like to say that English plays a great role in our life. It is officially known international language so it even necessary to know it if you want to make  success in your future career. As for me English is a language of an exceptional importance. I like to read books. I read them all the time. English helps me to read them in original in order to dive deeper in the author’s world. I like to compare the text in English with the one in my native languages. This makes my imagination brighter and my speech more expressive.

Also I’m keen of music and it is quite important for me to know what this or that song is about. That is why I always find the words of the song I like in order to translate it as this helps me to understand better the meaning of it. Somebody may find it naïve and funny but I’m strongly confident that English assists me in my self-development. It makes my brain work harder and develops my mental skills. I think it will help me a lot in future.
