My Teaching Philosophy
What we learn with pleasure we never forget.
 Alfred Mercier

As an English teacher, my primary goal is to engage, motivate and inspire students.
I believe effective teaching begins with creativity. My approach to teaching has been influenced by Ken Robinson’s lecture “Do schools kill creativity?” In my classroom I constantly try to give students creative exercises (projects, performances, Activate games) to encourage them think creatively. In my experience, most students don’t understand the point in doing a language activity for only practicing the language without a real purpose and outcome. My experience also taught me that students become more motivated and challenged if they can create something valuable. Creativity also improves self-esteem as students look at their own solutions to problems and their own products and see what they are able to achieve.
I know students have different skills based on prior experiences and interests so I take into consideration Multiple Intelligences. This helped me adjust my teaching to fit their learning styles by differentiated instruction.
I believe learning can be fun. One excellent way to engage students in the classroom is to utilize technology, especially mobile phones. It connects lessons to their everyday lives, prepares them for the rapidly changing world and makes learning enjoyable.
In order to maintain this goal, it’s important to continue education as a teacher. Taking active part in conferences and sharing knowledge at workshops is the best way to learn and improve. After completion TEA program and webinars I really believe in myself as a teacher, I’m sure I can share my knowledge with colleagues worldwide and in my local area and continue to enhance my teaching skills.
